29. Faces of Reality

Thoughts and images from Mijas, Spain, 2018.
Reality is defined as the state of things as they actually exist, or the way things actually are. A metal lamppost that actually exists and has an actual form is an example of reality. Is a shadow of that lamppost real?

Artist Statement:
Reality is defined as the state of things as they actually exist, or the way things actually are. A metal lamppost that actually exists and has an actual form is an example of reality. Is a shadow of that lamppost real? Perhaps. Debatable? Maybe. But what is true is that shadows, even though they are constantly changing, offer clues as to the true nature of the object casting the shadow.

Within each one of us is a central core of reality, the person we actually are. Our facial expressions, even though they are constantly changing, can be a window into that reality. Some expressions closely mirror our inner reality while others seem to take us farther away from it, but all of them provide insight into our true nature.
